Geoffrey Drake-Brockman is best known for his innovative fusion of art, science, and technology—but beyond the studio, he has a deep love of cool, character-filled cars. For years, his 1964 Lincoln Continental cruised up and down Marine Parade in Cottesloe, quietly becoming part of my A Portrait of Cars series, even though I’d never managed to meet him—elusive as he glided past.
Sleek, imposing, and beautifully engineered, the Lincoln mirrors Geoffrey’s own sensibility: a deep appreciation for design, mechanics, and presence. After years of photographing the car, finally meeting Geoffrey in person felt like closing the loop—connecting the machine to the mind behind it, and adding another layer to the story of cars as extensions of the people who love them.
